About us
The Williams Fire Department was officially established in 1912, for more than a century the community was protected by dedicated volunteers. In 2023, the department underwent a transformative change with the hiring of a full-time fire chief. Currently, the department is staffed by 1 full-time fire chief, 1 full-time fire inspector, and a team of 30 volunteers. Operating out of three strategically located fire stations, the department covers an area of more than 48 square miles serving both the city and its surrounding communities. With a city population of approximately 3,500 residents Williams is the "Gateway to the Grand Canyon '' attracting over 500,000 tourists annually. With support from the city council, community, and volunteers the department maintains an impressive ISO rating of 4/4Y. Over the past three years, the department has averaged just under 200 calls per year, (excluding EMS). The WFD is an all-hazard agency and responds to traffic accidents, fires, and medical calls.

The Role: As a Fire Captain at Williams Fire Department, you will be at the forefront of building and shaping our organization. This role is not only operational but also administrative, involving strategic planning and the establishment of a robust foundation for our growing department.
Responsibilities:
- Emergency Response:
- Respond to emergency calls, ensuring the safety and well-being of the community.
- Oversee and participate in the implementation of new standard operating procedures for emergency services.
- Training and Development:
- Develop and implement training programs for new volunteer firefighters.
- Supervise and train volunteers, fostering a cohesive and efficient team.
- Administrative Leadership:
- Take a leading role in developing standard operating procedures and guidelines.
- Contribute to strategic planning for the overall growth and success of the fire department.
- EMS Calls:
- Lead the development of procedures for handling EMS calls, aligning with the department's expansion into this crucial area.
