About Us
The Williams Fire Department was
officially established in 1921. The department was a completely volunteer fire
department. Recently the City of Williams has identified the need to transition
to a partially paid/partially volunteer department. The Department will
continue to rely heavily on volunteers and we encourage anyone interested in
volunteering to please contact us.
The City of Williams is proud to
announce our first full-time paid position of Fire Chief which will be filled
by Chase Pearson. Chase was born and raised here in Williams, and is an active
part of the community. He began volunteering with the Williams Fire Department in
1999. Chase worked for Fort Mojave Mesa Fire District for 13 years and has been
with the Verde Valley Fire District since 2019. Chase brings great insight and
many years of experience to the table. We look forward to the departments
exciting new future.
The WFD does not have personnel
manning our three fire stations in Williams. We are dispatched by the
Williams Police Department and our available members respond to the closest
fire station. However, the Department has a 10 year progression plan which will
include 24/7 service, and a paid staff made up of 1 Fire Chief, 3 Fire
Captains, and 6 Firefighters.
At this time the WFD Roster consists
of 27 members which includes 1 Fire Chief, 20 volunteer Firefighters and 7
volunteer support members. Each of which play a vital role in saving lives. The
WFD is an all hazard agency and responds to traffic accidents, fires, and
medical calls.
